A pochi giorni dagli eventi sacri della Settimana Santa Arbëreshe, Piana degli Albanesi onora il suo Santo Patrono: San Giorgio.
La popolazione di Piana degli Albanesi partecipa con solenne devozione agli eventi sacri in onore di San Giorgio, che culminano il 23 aprile con la spettacolare processione della statua equestre del Santo, attribuita al Bagnasco, che è custodita nella chiesa che è stata la prima chiesa urbana edificata in Piana degli Albanesi (1495) sulla sponda del torrente Ghioni, ora tombato, che attraversa l'odierna piazza Vittorio Emanuele.
Recentemente è stata rinnovata la tradizione di traslare la statua equestre di San Giorgio dalla sua sede alla Cattedrale di San Demetrio per poi rientrare ancora in sede e poi nel pomeriggio essere portata in solenne processione per le vie di Piana degli Albanesi.
In occasione di questa processione la statua equestre viene condotta dai portatori simulando il passo di un cavallo che ora…
