Hora Heritage Club is a project by Visitpiana dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the unique identity heritage of Piana degli Albanesi (Hora e Arbëreshëvet), which is chiefly rooted in the Arbëresh language, the Byzantine rite, and the traditional women's costume.
Alongside these core elements are all those that have taken shape over more than 500 years of Arbëresh presence in Sicily, such as the monumental, literary, and iconographic heritage, and—by no means least—the heritage of memory.
An immense heritage that, today more than ever, needs modern patrons who still believe in the vital importance of cultural heritage.
Visitpiana is currently engaged in several projects, but today we want to tell you about one that might be of particular interest to you, which we have named 'Save the Memory'.

"SAVE THE MEMORY"
THE CRYPT OF THE "P. CUPPARI" AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
Preserving the memory and heritage of the crypt and historical section of the 'Pietro Cuppari Agricultural Society' is one of the projects we are currently working on.
The historical section of the 'Pietro Cuppari Agricultural Society', although privately owned, is part of the municipal cemetery of Piana degli Albanesi. The tombstones found here date back as far as 1820.
Distinguished fellow citizens are buried in this historical section—and particularly within its underground crypt—alongside numerous members of families who emigrated to the United States and are no longer present in Piana degli Albanesi.
This section is the oldest and, from a cultural standpoint, the most significant in the entire cemetery, as it serves as a true historical and memory archive through its inscriptions and photographs. Despite this, it is currently in a state of total neglect and abandonment, with tombstones continuously detaching and breaking apart, making identification impossible.
Visitpiana has presented the 'Save the Memory' project to the 'P. Cuppari Agricultural Society'. Our goal is to launch a detailed digital mapping of the entire section and to create a digital archive for ancestral research.
