The imposing statue of the Albanian hero Skanderbeg was donated to the people of Piana degli Albanesi by the Swiss-based "Hora e Skënderbeut" Association. The statue was installed in the small square of the same name, located across from the parking lot next to the Piana degli Albanesi post office.

It was created by artist Gëzim Muriqi, who depicted the father of the Albanian people standing, wearing battle armor. His right hand holds a sword, and his left holds a shield, as if ready to defend his beloved people.

Despite his striking pose, his wolfskin cloak anchored to his shoulders gives the viewer the impression of impetuous movement.
