 lake of Piana degli Albanesi

The lake of Piana degli Albanesi is an artificial basin created by the damming of the Belice river. It was used for the production of electricity. The water from the upper basin rushes into a small catchment basin located downstream where the Guadalami hydroelectric power plant was built. This reservoir has attracted many migratory species that stay there at different times of the year. For this, the WWF was granted a large part of it, establishing an oasis that no longer exists. The perimeter is crossed by very suggestive paths that attract many running or two-wheel enthusiasts. The stretch of water has also been used several times for important international canoe championships. There are several equipped areas but the one with services offered is located a short distance from the Piana degli Albanesi Dam.
