Nicola Barbato Civic Museum: temporary closure for renovation.

The Civic Museum of Piana degli Albanesi, starting from 9 May 2023 until a date to be determined, will be closed to the public for renovation and adaptation interventions.

The renovations will affect various parts of the Retreats, the name of the structure that now houses the Civic Museum and which was created by the will of Father Giorgio Guzzetta to house an oratory close to the church of San Giorgio.

In addition to the numerous interventions to adapt the structure, a complete rearrangement of the exhibition halls and collections is also planned.

The changes should also affect the name of the Civic Museum which should no longer be named after the socialist doctor Nicola Barbato but which would become the Arbëreshe Culture Museum.

Pending the reopening of the Civic Museum, we remind you that it will be possible to visit the Museum of the Collegio di Maria by reservation, which houses the largest and most precious collection of sacred vestments of the Byzantine rite, and the Sanctuary of Maria SS. Odigitria.

We are waiting for you
